Please identify this gar. It is not growing much. It is now approx 20"

Hi Bro,

too me looks like a Florida Gar.
They max out at around 20"-24"

Is it a birth defect or happen when is growing up...?

If it happen during growing up, I suspect it expand it mouth too wide during feeding as the food is too big and get this injury .
