It is a normal frontosa aka Burundi. Nice catch. Take years to reach this size.

Hi Gowling bro,
Thanks for your reply.
So it is just those normal frontosa which the cheapest in the market?
I heard nowadays, the cheapest frontosa in the market is not Burundi already. They already mixed with other species but not sure what is the species.
By looking on this pic, can we determine this is a pure Burundi? Since the black strip is more wider?

I only see there's no mooning on the black strip which is a plus point. Normal Frontosa are usually priced by their size. You just have to choose those with as little defects as possible.
Probably it is so cheap that people don't really care the origins unlike Blue Zaire.
Last time I had a few small frontosa of 2-3cm for probably $6 each only. Took 3-4 years to reach that size.

looks most probably a burundi from this pic. whether mixed or not not sure. take some pics of it in the tank.
burundis have a few different variants, but over the years, crossbreeding and all resulted in burundis with multiple traits of different variants. or even crossed with other fronts.
pricing wise depends. end of the day, read up more, see the fish, if you like it and price is right, buy it.

Looking good, you probably can consider getting a good ratio of males and females then try breeding them.
