Don't worry about the sump thing. I have 2 planted tanks with IOS filters and they do fine. Just keep the water level in the sump filter high. If you think its not enough just crank the co2 up a notch.

yeah. so you mean the higher the water level, the less amount of oxygen ? therefore more co2 concentration in the water ?
