Default tank set up

My son wants me to buy a tank and some fishes, but I have no idea what I need for that. Does anyone can help me with that?
I don't really know about that, but all I know I need fish tank, sand, some pump.

depends on what type of fish u want to keep. what type of scape. imo beginner keeper have a bare tank better than sand etc. sometimes sand can be abit difficult to maintain.

i think firstly and the most important question is what type of fishes do you want to keep. then the bros here can advise you on tank size and filter type.

Decide on the type of fishes you want, work backwards...
Determine your tank size
Determine your filter(the heart of your aquarium) that's adequate for your tank.

You'll need a really good anti chlorine otherwise your fishes will keep getting sick and die.
Learn the nitrogen cycle in aquarium.

Just recommendation, go with those easier kept fish like guppy, molly, platy, barb....gain experience from there. No need to have a big tank, the most 2ft will do. Easy maintenance and dispose if your kid get sick of it. Read up some fish keep article will do.

Your query is too wide and general. Maybe go through youtube. there are tons of videos on setting up aquariums. Then have an idea on what you or rather your kid wants. Setting up an aquarium together can be a fun bonding activity.

actually not very difficult la.
Just a tank, a pump.. u can always pop into LFS to get those normal set up...

Long long ago...
i started out with 1 2ft acrylic tank with stand and a OHF system.
Media was simply CC (Cheap and gd but heavy)

Important is a good water conditioner la. Nowadays very good liao. So long as you dun go overload your tank (den again, so far touch wood so good la hor)

Whatever fish, what ever setup.. please always include anti chlorine and anti chloramine in your purchase list!
