All right to switch to pellet now?
Hi Bros,
My RTG is about 8-9 inch now. Was on feeders (platies and small frogs) but cause of a recent close shave with assumed unclean feeder fish... and my mom thinking it's cruel to feed feeders... i'm thinking to switch to feeding pellet. Is it old enough to switch to pellet now? I tried feeding him (today day 1) some cheapo $3 packet of arowana pellet my friend bought for me last time but my fish just chewed it and spat it out and totally ignored the next few pellets. May i know which brand of pellet is good and the success rate of the aro taking is highest? And how long can i safely starve my 8-9 inch aro? Thanks all |

bro, from feeders to pellets, you must have a heart of steel.
Previously I gave my pearl bread crumbs, he also eat till shiok shiok. U must give the fellow some time to adjust and he will gradually eat.. |

8 to 9 inches is still in the growing phase...you can try giving MP and pellets... try feeding Hikari carnivore pellets...

Not a pro here, but speaking based on my 2 years experience. Feeding fish with mix Va is the best, mainly on pellets, two days out of a week give them a treat. Mp, MW ect. Converting aro to eat pallet is painful process. U have to starve it till it accept pallet, might be take a very long time, the process took me 6 weeks. But Urs aro is still young, so pump it up first. Hope ur aro can accept pallet soon haha.. |

If you want your rtg to be broad and fat, best alternative is to feed mp.

My current XB is around 8~9". I try Hikari food sticks alone, it chewed and spit out. In the end I stuff the pellet into the cut mp and let the pellet soften before feed and my XB swallow the mp. You may want to give it a try.

The first day without food: he took it but spat it right out
2nd day without food: Took it spat it out made a mess of the leftover food on the bottom. I suspect he kept going back to bite hence the leftover became even more messy. Today 3rd day without food: He kept going back and back on the pellet... looks promising... hope he eats it soon I bought Hikari Jumbo Carnivore stick for him... might be alittle too big? i broke it into 2-3 parts before feeding him |

It is progressing well when it goes back to chew on the pellet.
Will learn to swallow soon. In the mean time, do more frequent water change to maintain water parameters and enhance his appetite. Take note that the food debris will deteriorate water parameters.
