Cool

I have just tried your method to create c02,
after 9 hr liao can feel pressure in the bottle but not bubbles cuming out ...
when i squeeze it there is bubble but when i stop squeezin it stops...
the worst thing is the water from the diffuse keep moving up the tube but
haven flow into the co2 bottle??? (each i squeeze and release it)
will the water obstruct the c02 flow????

from the sounds of it... I think your cap and pipe is leaking... give it a check..
usually even after you squeeze, the pressure still remaining in the bottle will prevent a backflow.. backflow usually is a sign that your system is not air tight... put your nose over the cap of the bottle and squeeze... can smell anything funny?

I used blue-tac to seal my tube to the cap. Have tried silicon but just could not get it right and leaked.

Normally people would just add yeast and sugar into the solution. If we add rice (cooked or straight from packing?) do we need to add same amount of sugar?

i do not think it is necessary to add sugar. But having some sugar inthe beginning will help the yeast to initiate and start growing. This would accelerate the process. Adding rice allows it to last longer as starch eventually breaks down to sugars but is a more compacted form.

I have tried silicone before as well... the curing process is long and it does not really work better than glue gun. I've heard ppl using blue tac but not sure how air tight it can be. I think you can let it go on for another day and see how it goes. Sometimes i do need to "repair" leaks as well.

The rice mentioned here, is it supposed to be cooked? Or I just pour some of those direct from packaging?

Blue tac works fine for me so far. No leak.

Hiyah
give up using a diffuser
it need so much pressure to come out
but will try again next time...
I now use airstone and it is bubbling like crazy...
ur formula rox!!!
but i am wondering will it be very diff for the amount of co2 to diffuse into the water through airstone and diffuser??
