Can read up Tom Barr and Diana Walstad on how to do low tech planted tank. Especially like Walstad book, can borrow from NLB. Cannot find, I have a copy too, can loan you also.

Plants keep thoese hardy hardy ones....throw in more drift wood and ketapang leaves and make the water tinted brown, altum will look better in this color, me think.

See how this tank goes.
Worried plants die off in my no CO2 and planted lights/chiller set up.
I had one 3-footer planted before i journeyed into FH keeping… And it was just terribly hard to maintain without CO2 and chiller. Plants weren't as green as it should be… Some more demanding plants would slowly rot away etc.
I can't imagine having to maintain this 6-footer
At the end of the day, I felt i should have gone all out to provide the essentials (CO2, Chiller, Hi-power lights) or i should have saved money and buy nicer FHs

Minimum requirement to keep the plants green and thriving is light.....

All my 45cm tanks are planted but without gravel (only top up with bioearth) and timer is set from 6am to 7pm

No weekly dosage of ferts etc and my java fern, riccia, duck weed etc do very well....in fact have to do bi weekly harvest of my floaters or it will over run my tank.

Will update bros, thanks for the tips and sharing.

Inspired to do a zen garden in a 3 footer as next project. With a twist, if my idea works out.

Nice set up but I don't think the fern behind can survive for long underwater
