quick opinion on bioload
Hi guys
don't know which section to post this, I guess here should be correct currently have 5 arowana, 5 ray 2 EBH and 1 pleco in a 6x4x3 FGT (sump setup) doing 2xweekly WC of 20%. all fishes all eat generally eating well. was thinking of adding another ray and arowana to make the numbers even. Think my bioload can take it? I'm maintaining PH at 7 to 7.2.

205 twice weekly sounds good. fishes get used to high nitrate over time. suggest minimise feeding during introducing the new fishes to let them get accustom to your parameters

I think just stick to what you have would be great and no need to add more. Definitely bioload will increase.

I agree with patclay, best not to add any fish while your current setup is doing just fine. Often times, adding another fish might bring you some unnecessary headaches and then you'd ask yourself why'd you do it in the first place.

The only real way u can tell if ur bioload is too high is from ur water parameters... seriously it isn't hard to measure ur ammonia/nitrite/nitrates... if u really want to add more fish then make sure ur current readings are good before thinking further.
But for comparison.. I have 1 aro 3 rays in a 6x 2.5x2 and nitrates already is an issue.. had to add a denitrator to keep it in check. |
