Update of my Red Line...
Happy National Day!
All from my spawn and they are my future brooders...not easy to breed reds lah but I am still peservering... This male just won 3rd in red plakat class at best of asia betta competition held at simpang bedok ! All made in Singapore! Really proud of them! Look at the clean-ness of the body and nice body shape... 5 months old now , IMO Prime age for reds and also the final verdict on whether to continue the line...mainly because of to see the clean-ness of the body on irids and black scales and also some reds tend to lose their colour 5 months onwards, lastly whether the finnage is able to last till 5 to 6 months... |

This is another male that I am planning to breed also due to the not so excessive finnage but colour definitely not better than the first but still can continue lah hahaha...I used to like to show young fishes but nowadays young fishes all very powerful but to really appreciate plakats more , maturity is the key. Seeing a mature big sized plakat is very different from the young ones and to better tell a good fish and a not so good fish.

Awesome job there. Color deep, intense and lack of irids. Body shape very nice, stocky built but yet no spoon head with smooth head line.
Lovely lovely fishes. Great job there boss. |

I like that they are so clean at this age. However, I've seen a shift of judge preference to a lighter red in recent comps, something both you and I have to take into consideration as red breeders.

Why is that so jit? What kind of advantage do the lighter red have over the darker red?
