putting egg crate in bb setup is my biggest mistake
it trap lots of detritus, esp at the dead spot area

i prefer 1" of sand, just get sand shifter like diamond goby
it will resolve the problem

I'm slowly sucking my sand into my refugium now, can see my skimmer working out due to the lightly stirred bed. Slow enough not to cause much spike. Managed to find one big fat bristle worm which I dumped it out.


Yeah, I should get some sand shifters. Sea cucumbers are hyper, I think should work.

Learn from mistakes, at least those are not to costly

i am really amazed at how sometimes pple tanks can have sand but yet so darn clean.

The dirty part are shifted down to look clean
Or should I use the black sand next time

My tank has also hone bb. I am considering black too . Just thin layer as the detritus quite bad without sand.
