Alexander-Arnold’s cross hits Firmino, with the ball falling to Salah. He buries it.
That’s 25 for the season. Over 10 minutes to go. |

Full time - Liverpool 2-3 West Brom (Firmino, Salah; Rodriguez x2, Matip og)
Van Dijk sees his header saved in the dying seconds. Liverpool are out of the FA Cup at the fourth round for the third consecutive campaign. A remarkable game, but one the Reds are on the wrong side of. Boos at Anfield. |

1st half was dire. Going 2 goals down against any PL team is disastrous. Not to mention against WBA whose known for its defensive strength.
Out of the FA cup... only plus point is less distraction from the PL and less of Migs |

IMO, these defeats due to defensive fxxk-ups are the fault of the manager, because of the way he keeps meddling with the weakest part of the team, which is the defensive setup. This setup comprises the goalkeeper, the back 4 and the midfield. Klopp cannot make up his mind on either Mignolet or Karius, he changes the back 4 from game to game, and none of the CMs are good enough to be providing the defensive shield in front of the back 4 nor are they capable of consistently tracking runners from the opposition team. If he continues in this manner, I highly doubt he will be able to bring us any trophies within the next 1-2 years

To put in TAA, Moreno and Migs for the WBA game certainly was questionable. WBA is a strong and tough team and we needed strong characters at the back. TAA and Moreno was too offensive minded that left too many holes at the back. Migs was just Migs, weak.
Robertson should’ve played (needed a rest?) and Gomez although dodgy of late, is defensively stronger than TAA. The changes in defence coupled with our midfield having an off day, killed us Sounds sad that we needed to put more defensive attention against teams like WBA but that’s how vulnerable our defence has been. Wonder when is Clyne back? Last edited by elimmel; 29-01-2018 at 10:55 AM. |
