Default Import , Export & Selling Bettas

Hi
this is the reply I got : MOD can put this as a sticky?

email dated 15 Aug 2003.

Please see my replies below.

Hi

I am a fighting fish hobbyist. I have a few questions that need AVA
advices:

1) what is the procedures to import fishes in? Due to space constraint ,
can we then sell these imported fishes after some time?

A person importing aquarium fish into Singapore is required to be licensed
by the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA). Thereafter,
each consignment of fish must be declared and approved by the AVA before
importation. However AVA allows an individual to import not more than 50
pieces of ornamental fish (non-endangered species) in not more than 3
litres of packing water from overseas as part of one's carry-on luggage for
personal keeping without applying for a licence or approval. The traveller
should declare the fishes brought in to the Customs upon entering
Singapore. We have no objection to the sale of the imported fishes after
some time, provided it is not on commercial basis.

2) Can hobbyist sell their fishes from our own spawn? This is so that
we can clear some space

We have no objection.

3) How can I export out a fish? Do you have anybody to
recommend?

Same allowance as for import. You may be interested to engage the help of a
local exporter. For a list of the exporters, you can visit the website for
Singapore aquarium Fish Exporters' Association at www.safea.org/index.html.

If you still have any further queries on import or export of ornamental
fish, please do not hesitate to contact me at Tel: 6751 9809.
Regards.

they will deliver it to your nearest post office 'HQ' for example, in my case is Jurongpoint branch, then u go there collect. reason is becos they dun wanna ur wet parcel to affect other parcels. after getting the collection slip from them (they will mail it to u), u may go down to the post office 'HQ' the next working day. bring along the slip and ur IC or equilvalent.
