Default What if .....

Hi all senior

always this question pop to me... What if one day when return from work. realise your fishtank leaks and water all over the floor, fishes some make it some cannot... What will you do first in this messy/heartaches situation?

Is there any helpline to call for temp fishtank? If at home no spare tank for arro and other big fishes, does anyone keep spare tanks/tub for this type of situation? If yes, how big?

If small fish, put in pail while trying to patch the tank. If bigger fish, see if can put in basin/toilet sink etc. Not everyone will have such a big spare tank unused..

Actually, the best remedy is to ensure the tank you bought comes from a reliable tank maker. If you are getting a resale tank, do check on it's age, whether it's dried for a period of time before you bought it or currently running and waiting to decom. Physical checks must be carried out (cracks; chips etc) .

Should there be a leak, like what you mentioned, I think the best thing you can do is to find containers to house the survivors and try to contact perhaps SG Bros, they might have services to temp house the survivors as they do transfer of rays and aros.

it happens to me just last wednesday, piping from OHF came loose. i secure the angles but this time was at the rain bar....
the tank was inside the room so the room was wet, another room wet, living room wet, store room also wet .... the extra bedding stuff my mum bought was kept in a wooden box under the bed...soak wet
sofa and mattress .... wet
the grocery (rice) was kept in the store room ... wet

i always have a spare tank at any one time for temp solution (leaking)....
then meantime call up tank maker and beg for a fast job

More impt question.. how you make your mum not angry?

But back to the topic, it's good if you can have a spare tank.. but not everyone has the space for a spare tank. Might end up having to buy one off the shelf.

Ensure you have enough pail (biggest, of course) with sufficient air pump and pray they survive while waiting for remedy in resolving the tank leak. For neighborhood assistance, some of them may not be free as most of them are working personnel.

In view of tank leak, no one can ensure it will not happen even reliable tank maker themselves. Which is why the tank maker give 5 yrs warranty, is to give peace of mind to the owner. This is unforeseen circumstances when it happen, it doesn't alarm anyone else.

I had my own share of it but always pray the next morning that the fishes are all well next morning.

hmmm.... that's something to think about.

Anyway, IMHO, frequent check on the tank should be fine, early detection can prevent such problem / issue occurred. As mentioned, prevention better then cure, but not preparing / anticipating such problem arise by having the spare tanks/tub, it is not economical and waste space. That's my thought and opinion.
