What kind of filter?
hi all. i thought of setting up a planted tank on my desk. but the thing is that i cannot setup a canister filter as the desk is fixed onto the wall, thus there are no holes to allow the piping to pass thru to the bottom.
so im wondering whats the next best filtration system? hang-on? OHF? |

If the tank is small, definitely an OHF.

An HOF will be my choice if you tank is small. An internal filter has the advantage of being hidden in the tank and that is a big boost to your overall tank design.
But I prefer HOF because the amount of filter medium it can hold compared to internals is much more. |

If you have space at e side or the back of the tank, then i would strongly recommend a hang-on filter.. cos it can really hold alot more filter media (eg. rings or bio home), which will greatly enhance your filtration effects.. but if u have space constraint, internal filters are good too. jus have to modify abit and u can still stuff some biohome in.. hope this helps.

Hang On filter will best suit your needs...
Cost less den $20 for a good one nowadays. Or you can also try the Eden or Boyu mini canister filter. Can hunt for it at the Buy/Sell forum for a Good and Cheap one. Cheers... |

Sorry to dig up this thread , but recently is toying with the idea of replacing my cannister with an internal or hang on filter. I know hang on filter will lose Co2, how did yours do? |
