Bro

I agreed with Bro mediacraze......

Given its current state, very doubtful it can even survive in the wild.

Instead of letting it suffer further, let it go via humane way would be a better option.

I think clean up the tank , filter and cotton and do 30% water change and see how it response .. Try to save it first .. Do not release in the wild .. It will never survive outside ...

Agree , but the owner can just reduce water after WC , add salt , heater and a bit wave and air bubble for half day to 1 day .
And try out smaller livestock feeder or SW . But not too much food 1 shot .

Of course standard WC and filter wool need to wash or change the owner should do it .
And not wait until shit on your pants then start find toilet .

Hope that will help .

the main issue is, owner does not has time to do WC and any drastic change in water parameters and even washing/cleaning of the wools 100% can kills the fish.

This fish needs to have a lot of patience in improving the water conditions slowly and steadily, which the owner does not has the time to do it.

To be adopted is also risky for the fish for it's a complete set of new water parameters and the fish is too weak to be moved.

Very sad to see this poor fish.

If nt been told by Ts i would have thought It been neglected in a pond sump tank by accident and unnoticed.

No fish will say no to better water condition. If the breathing is decent rate n behavior is still movable. There is a possibility to nurse.

But after nursing will nt be back in shape but at least swimming well. Since it a five yrs old fish. And be deprive of food for already so long. It may forgt how to bring the food dn. probably may even nt eat after water change.

I suggest water change and small gold fish in the tank. If feeding denies persist, to keep the fish going got to force feed.

My 3 cents thoughts...

My warm blessing for the fish.
