i have grown comps from fry to when they bred. it took 2 yrs +/- 1-2 months.

male size was around 2.5 inches, while the female was about 2.

Didn't expect them to spawn at this size.
Pretty small for that , aren't they ?

BTW, what are the sizes of your calvus & comps that have spawned ?

Yea, they grow slowly, but mature when they are still small in size.

The alto calvus yellows are wildcaught, got them really big, the male is over 4 inches, the females are 3-3.5 inches already. they dun seem to have grown much since i got them.. haha

Indeed slow growers....I have about 3 black calvus for over 3 yrs, maybe more and still looked to be almost the same size as when I first got them But good what, you don't run out of tank space so fast

Bought 2 pcs black calvus from Jason from 1 of his previous shipment & picked 1 big pc ( 4 inches ) & a smaller one ( at 3 inches ), hoping to get a pair.
Now, 1.5 yrs later, the smaller one grew & caught up with the bigger fish and both now at 4.5 inches.

Both look like males with their seemingly longer pelvic fins.

Hoping a acquire a female & maybe spawn them.
