hmmm, i went and looked ard, for a 3ft quad retrofitting it will cost me $200+..
thats kinda out of my budget.. i tink i may hv to settle for PL.. for PL, wad rating, wattage, and how many do i need to be able to keep most corals/other photosynthetic things? |

You would need at least 4x36W PLs. PLs are not value for money IMO considering how cheap HO T5s can be these days. Watt for Watt, HO T5s beat PLs.
An alternative is to buy the materials from bro Orgasbt in this forum and DIY the HO T5 lightset yourself. Should be able to save some money compared to buying the retrofit from LFS.

Yes I agree with Kalib
T5s are very easy to DIY and the prices are going down so it'll be affordable and good One point to note though, some T5s might be expensive but it is worth the extra cash in terms of intensity and lifespan |

wad are the prices like for PL?
haha im a real dumbo when it comes to electrical stuff, if i do myself i tink ill prob die of electric shock.. and how much do the bulbs/tubes cost for PL and HO T5 respectively? |

A 4x36W PL lightset from LFS should cost you $100+ at least, if not $200+.
As i have not bought PL lights for a long while, sorry can't advise you on the cost of PL bulbs. Anyone who is familiar can advise? For HO T5s, Aquaz are selling relatively cheap HO T5 bulbs at around $20+ per tube depending on wattage.
