great information from everybody! I'm currently needing to re-cycle my tank... i did the rookie mistake of accidently clearing out my beneficial bacteria. my ammonia levels are spiked right now . i've been doing WC daily in hopes of the media will properly cycle correctly. I had to go to a friends house to grab some established media and immediately added to my filter.

Are you using dechlorinator when you WC?

I using the ocean free crystal clear. It really works but the fish kind of like choking. But so far I use twice and the fishes are fine. But don't really recommend if you have very expensive fish.

As dragonfire said cloudiness is usually due to bacterial bloom. once your tank is properly cycled and your filtration is adequate for your bioload it'll clear up eventually.

for extra clarity work on mechanical filtration, filter socks help a lot towards that.

another option is chemical filtration. purigen / activated carbon will help for that crystal clear clarity. although it's not required if u already have good mech/bio filtration.
