Hello just wanted to ask can media used in fw tank before be recycled and reused in a sw set up? I know that the BB are different.. but just want to check if i can reuse it so that i can save money and need not buy a box of new medias...

In general, you can re-use the media but you would need to clean it out thoroughly before using it in the marine tank. What type of media are you re-using?

I'm using ceramic ring..and sintered glass..i used to keep shrimps.. pardon my ignorance .. can i reuse the sponge and charcoal too? And how do i clean medias thoroughly to prepare it for reuse? Are there any special steps?

Washing the media thouroughly with tapwater should be sufficient, just ensure you remove whatever dirt that was previously accumulated.

You can reuse the sponge but I would advise against reusing the charcoal in case it leeches anything back into the water. Its safer to use fresh charcoal and ensure that it is suitable for marine use before placing it in the filter.

Before you want to use anything from 1 tank in another tank. Either use boiling water to clean it or dry it under hot sun. Else you never know what you are transferring over to the new tank.

you need to soak it as well..cuz nutrients in the media will cause red slime algae..

When your tank crash(OS crash), its time to cleanup(reformat hard drive) and setup(install OS) again and add new livestock(re-install software).
