Journey Begins...
Hi All,
Very excited, just ordered my 5ft x 2ft 2ft, now eagerly waiting for the arrival, eta said to be mid to end of Mar. Projected Tank Plan: 1. 1 - 3 Arowana (2 x XB, 1 x Red, ideally) 2. xx nos of zebra pelco or L333 (any one has got a zebra can share pic) 3. xx nos of discus Few question to ask: 1. Discus as tank mate to arowana. Saw some bros have managed to keep them together peacefully, or at least no fatality. Any advise or things that I should look out for? 2. How to differentiate the sexes? They breed rather easily? 3. Why some breed got vertical bar marking? Special breed 3. Interested in red map and royal blue....anyone seen nice ones around? Hope I got the breed correctly. Unable to post picture to verify since I just join Cheers KS™ |

When your 3 aros reach 15" or thereabouts, you will find your tank like suddenly become very small.

Your can't keep hypan type of pleco together with aro. They too small, get pseuda or panaque type. Though took very long for them grow big so best is get biggest size you can afford. Aro and discus like not match and they eat different kind of food.

What is the back ground color of ur tank ?
If dark based....... Any strains of discus will do. U will see vertical stripes aka stress bars on non full colored based discus and peppering on full colored based discus. Would suggest go for blue black ground...... Neutral color. Nvr try nvr know. For feeding of discus, would suggest u feed tetra bits or dry food instead of BH as it might spoil the water rapidly. |

I kept one XB with 4 bss discus in a 5x2x2 black bottom bare tank with driftwood (mean for discus to hide if necessary), they live peacefully for more than 4 months now but my XB very greedy and will eat some of the pigheart meant for the bss... but overall no feeding issues as everyone gets to eat. Some say its not good for aro to eat pigheart.... I luv this combo, they look awesome under nite light... hope this help your decision
