Main reason of bottom drain/discharge is to maintain good water circulations within the pond. Most swimming pools incorporate bottom discharge from filtration system. Or alternatively, has an internal overflow/underflow filtration/sump on one end of the pond & bakki shower installed at the other end for good circulations, similar to tank with ious and overhead filtration trays. |

Btw should i be worried about tree roots? My neighbor has a big tree, will this pose a threat to my pond?

the tree roots should only come in if there is already a small crack in the wallss of your concrete tank. but if you re concerned you could search for root control mats that prevent the roots from coming in. usually available at nurseries.
