Default Dejan Lovren injury update

Jürgen Klopp revealed Liverpool must wait for more information on the injury concern that forced Dejan Lovren off the pitch during the 3-0 win over Bournemouth.

The defender was replaced by Ragnar Klavan seven minutes from time at Anfield, but the manager said it was too soon to confirm the specifics of the issue.

“I didn’t see the knock. I would love if it would be because of a ‘knock’ [rather than] a strain or tear or whatever. I have no clue,” said Klopp.

“He felt something but I didn’t speak to him afterwards, I only saw that he was limping.

“We made a change because we could make that change – we had a centre-half on the bench. Hopefully [it is] not too serious, of course, but I cannot say more now.”

29 years ago today, 96 children, women and men lost their lives at Hillsborough. We will never forget them.

Our thoughts are with the families, survivors and all those affected by the tragedy.

Is Mohamed Salah enjoying the most phenomenal goalscoring season in Liverpool's history?

The records just keep tumbling for Mohamed Salah.

Liverpool's Egyptian King scored his 40th goal of the campaign in the Reds' comprehensive 3-0 victory over Bournemouth on Saturday, becoming just the third player in the club's history to manage such a feat.

The second-half header was also Salah's 30th league goal of the season , the first player to reach that tally in the Premier League this season, and the first to do so for the Reds since Luis Suarez in 2013-14.

He now just needs one more league goal to surpass Suarez, and the smart money is on Salah doing just that. After all, he did become the quickest player to score 30 league goals in a season since George Allan, who scored 30 in just 31 appearances... back in 1896.

Salah will now have several other records in sight.

He will certainly be hoping to outstrip the greatest goalscorer in Liverpool's history by besting Ian Rush's 47 goals scored in 1983-84. The 25-year-old needs just two more to equal Roger Hunt's total of 42 goals scored in 1961-62.

But Salah might have more immediate targets in mind.

First up, with just three more Premier League goals Salah can become Liverpool's highest-ever top-flight league goalscorer in a single season since the war. Rush also holds that record for the 32 he notched in 83-84.

Six more goals from Salah would draw him level with Gordon Hodgson, who has the overall record having scored 36 league goals in 1930-31.

Salah has also scored in seven consecutive Premier League games, a feat Suarez managed and now just one behind a record set by Hunt and equalled by Fernando Torres.

The Egyptian has already topped Didier Drogba's haul of 29 league goals to become the first Africa player to score 30 goals in English football history.

What seems sure is that fans could be seeing the most phenomenal goalscoring season in Liverpool's illustrious history.

Salah is just two goals behind Hunt's 42-goal total, but 41 of those strikes all came when the Reds still toiled in the old Second Division.

If Salah can reach Rush's 47-goal haul, the maximum amount of games he will have to do it in would be 52 games - 13 fewer than Rush needed to reach the 47-goal mark.

Nine of Salah's 40 goals have come in the Champions League, four more than Rush notched in the European Cup - although the latter did lift the trophy with Liverpool, something Salah will be hoping to emulate this year.

Rush also topped up his tally with eight goals in the League Cup, another competition Liverpool won in 1983-84. Salah wasn't even in the squad for Liverpool's one and only Carabao Cup game this season.

Mind you, Salah still has another 306 goals to score before he catches Rush's overall goalscoring record. So there's still work to do for the Egyptian King yet!

How Salah, Hunt and Rush compare

Ian Rush
Total - 47 goals. League - 32. European Cup - 5. FA Cup - 2. League Cup - 8.

Roger Hunt
League - 41 (Divison Two). FA Cup - 1.

Mohamed Salah
Total - 40 goals. League - 30. Champions League - 9. FA Cup - 1. League Cup - 0.
