Wow, this thread is alive! See you never talk you never know. Once you talk all experts comment.

I've seen and bought one from Seaview but later realize from bro sebarau that it's a tenga. Only the bigger one from Seaview at $128 looks like kelah base on the body shape and size - however, there isnt any red finnage at 8 inch so i dropped the idea of getting one. The green kelah i had (refer to pg 1, 1. Humpback Mahseer) has got similar body shape and at a foot long - has white to colourless finnage.

Golden is Tor Putitora (aka yellow mahseer), India species. This species is famous super famous with anglers - you see their images spread across major angler publications. It's another beauty to behold.

Strangely, i've seen some Malaysia angler magazines with scales and body almost alike? Maybe someone can confirm if this species is also found in Malaysia

some magazine do carry pics of M'sian angler fish in Cauvery..so unless you read the article and they said they fish in malaysia.. i'm not able to confirm on that..but as you know..kelah will blend their color to its surrounding like other fish as well..so we will never know for sure...

the farm bred kelah usually dull in color when small.but so far I've seen a bigger one . I will try to snap big kelahs kept in Xian Leng Shah Alam public aquaria .. more that 1ft long.. color a bit dull due to no sun light.. just like mine..

Hehe, I haven't seen one in Seaview that I like.

Thanks, but no thanks.
I also went up ST 96 and saw two "blue" Kelah, also don't feel like bringing home.

Whether the Kelahs in Kenyir are 'redder' anot, I'm not sure.
I've not caught them from any where else.
20 years back, I was a frequent angler at Tasik Kenyir.
Used to catch them with Buah Sawit.
It is believed that the extra redness of the kelah comes from the diet of that fruit/seed in their natural habitat.

Did a quick peep at the "Red Hampala Barbus" in QH, it look kind of similar to the one i bought at Seaview except Seaview advertised it as Red Kelah in Mandarin.

Guess i need to grow it further before i conclude what species it actually is.

Has anyone here kept any Mahseer from India waters with pics to share? Whatever colour doesnt matter.
