The most important thing is: Why do you need to reduce your pH in the first place?
Plants and fishes can live within a wide range between 6-8 and they do not need an acidic value just to survive. If you do dose CO2, then you should have no problems at all. But if you insist on lowering the pH then do not use any chemical addictives like pH-Minus or such products, they usually contain sodium by-products or as a result of its dosage, introduce phosphate. Instead, just use peat in your filter. BTW, check the pH of your tap water as well. If your tap water has a near-neutral pH, then something in your tank is raising the pH. It should be the rocks or something similar. -Calvin |
