Often read it is due to problem with the water and need to remove those overdue coral stones and expired media. Is this true?
Having this problem too but no solution.

Thanks for all your kind words guys and concern. I will be taking my Red Mammons out from the tank soon which will be replaced by more docile tankmates.

For my WC patterns, this is my individual practice:

1) 2 water changes of 30% each change per week.

2) Wash my medias evey half yearly by removing all media to disinfect by soaking them in potassium permaganate solution in pails and by sun drying them after which before placing them back into my sump.
