any other viable options? thx
The HDB cutoff period can be negotiable. Call the Town Council and inform them about your situation. They will help reduce the down time.

I experienced twice myself.

Received the notice for power cutoff for 2 hours. Called them and inform them about my fish tank, ended cut off supply for only 15min.

my apologies for the wrong info given, and a big thanks to moonwalker because otherwise i'll happily be contented with it and assumed it's working well enough.

now it's definately not sufficient and i have to start looking for a better alternative haiz.
Thanks for the update .

Got this from the web. I believed someone posted about dissolved oxygen here before.

Dissolved oxygen enters water through the air or as a plant byproduct. From the air, oxygen can slowly diffuse across the water’s surface from the surrounding atmosphere, or be mixed in quickly through aeration, whether natural or man-made 7. The aeration of water can be caused by wind (creating waves), rapids, waterfalls, ground water discharge or other forms of running water. Man-made causes of aeration vary from an aquarium air pump to a hand-turned waterwheel to a large dam.

http://www.fondriest.com/environment...solved-oxygen/

Oxygen is absorbed into the water through the disturbance of water surface with air. The more disruptions, the more oxygen is being absorbed into the water.

The air pump we used is actually performing this action to create disruptions to the water surface to aid oxygen absorption.

Actually, there is a lot of other ways to disturb water surface. :P
