My altum bio load will bring the PH down .... try feeding baby catfish and u will know. Water change is done about 30-40% direct tap without any thing added once per week.

The funny thing is after water change the PH shoots up back to 7 and the fishes seem ok with the big change from 4.5 to 7. From 7ph it takes another 2-3 days befor reaching 4.5-5 again.

baby catfish? torsat is it?
the last time i tried, quite a few managed to hide and grow in my tank.
got one grew to almost 8inch. managed to catch them all out and throw into a pond in my estate. still have 2 4-5 inch ones in my sump.

your altums being able to withstand the wide pH swing shows how tough they are when settled in.

Yup, usually 3 bucks of torsat will last me 5-10 mins

yeah sad to say they eat alot more than my aros and are ready to eat any time. My biggest is about 4" plus just body alone without tail and the top and bottom fins span about 10"-11"

yup altums are fun to watch when they grow. But the top and bottom fins don't always grow proportionally. Those with very tall fins looks very nice. If i have time i'll take some pics tonight.
