$30 mini kindai Showa from my balcony pond
I got this cheap local bred kindai showa back in Dec 2008 to try out rearing koi in my balcony pond. It was 15cm then and I liked the translucent white skin on this fellow very much.
Jan 2009 - 15cm Side view Now a year later, it has outgrown my mini pond, and to my disbelief, it measured 40cm! I thought at most 30cm as my pond is only 33cm wide though 8ft long. Feb 2010 - 40cm Quite pleased with the way the sumi came out on the head to make up for the lack of red, but the scattered kaneko spots is a matter of taste. That said, for a $30 showa, i'm really quite pleased with this fellow. How u guys think? |

Not a koi expert but the markings I like. And for $30, it's worth it.

Busy lah bro... This kindai is the chagoi of my balcony pond, eat alot. It is the pioneer batch that started in this balcony pond and i wanted to see how big it wld grow in a small pond. Recently I felt it was time to move it to a bigger pond. When i caught it out, 2 things surprised me, the size & the colours. |
