My 2 cents.....whether you are keeping 10 stingrays or 1 stingray, it is STILL best to OVERKILL filtration whenever we can...due to many reasons....i.e. fish enjoy and thrives in good water perimeters. If you have constraints such as $/space/budget/etc and you have to chose between this or that, then you should consider which filtration is better/best. IMHO, I think with your WC regime of weekly 50%, either one type of filtration should be sufficient for your 2 fishes as long as normal feeding regime is practiced. I would personally have both filtrations if I have 0 constraint.

I haven set up the tank yet. But im considering to start of with either an OHF or a canister first. will have both next time. But which should i start of with? and what type u guys recommend. Sump is definitely out of my setup due to space constraint. D: Will dolphin P1108 do the job? or should i start of with Mr aqua 3x3 =9 trays OHF?

Bro, there's no hard & fast rule on the filteration

Currently,i am using the ohf for all my 422. 3 of them housing an aro each.

My brother in law only uses 2 corner filter boxes for his 422. Honest, his rtg is more than 13 years old

Btw, my wc regime: 50% on alternate days. Yes, it's hardwork but I enjoy it

Hmm. Took a quick picture of my tank..

The Tunze on the top left for mechanical filtration and skimming. The Hydra and the Dymax on the right for biofiltration.

Thanks. So far I've managed with just simple internal filtration. It's not the most ideal, but its sufficient for the 6mths I've had the tank.

Previously used to house the XB, a Kelberi, a feifeng and a red hook. No major issues with water quality so far..

Perhaps it's the Hydra doing its thing like advertised. Perhaps the MP Spheres and Azoo 4-in-1 are really as good as everyone says. Perhaps the magic is in the Purigen.

Honest, I am a damn lazy individual doing with a single tier ohf.

But wash, clean and clear filter materials weekly
