I had plenty of these babies back about 3.5 years ago when they were firstly shown up.. The collected point is sumatra (jambi for exact) and I never find this type in Kalimantan/Borneo. I keep on wondering the ID but I think this one is melanoptera. No literature I found said that marulius also natives to Sumatra island. It is melanoptera that natives to sumatra (well at least based on literature).

The blue color will fade when it reach big size, only pale blue remains. Too bad that none left in my tank since I sold em all.

Will post later my colleague pic of this species

this one is the comparison:

this blue one:

Fish and Pic belong to Adi Wisaksono, a colleague

marulius :

Fishes n pics belowng to iinkeren

Maruliodes:

Fish n pic belong to iinkeren

As u can see, the bodyshape of the blue one is different with marulius, more close to maruliodes but with no pattern nor flower

Thanks. Just want to share the adult of blue species. So is it melanoptera or maruliodes? Definetely different with common maruliodes that why we in indonesia call it blue maruliodes

Actually till now Im still unsure. Tot some bro mentioned that mine is a cobra snakehead?

I think snakeheads are abundant in Indonesia rite? Hows the fish keeping scene there? Plenty of aquariums selling snakeheads?
