Is Cod a fresh water fish? I meant the type of Cod for "Cod Liver Oil"?

Nope, that is a coldwater saltwater fish that is normally found in seas near the polar region. This murray cod is freshwater.

Many different fishes can have the same name, like bass can refer to sea bass, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, peacock bass etc.
