God this hobby gets so frikin complicated at times haha!

Hi bro, yes indeed I realised that 2 of my endies (which local fish shop claims to be from overseas) have different head and jar shapes from the normal captive bred endies. Wondering how many different type of endies variants there are around the world. This is making bichir keeping much more interesting now.

Why? The lower jaw and head pattern? BTW you came to take the photos and you should recognise it. Another way to tell is the white pattern behind the gills back to the tail. They are wider and lighter contrast than laps.

If you notice, Jarrick Lap also got a head similar to PBB. I wonder if he can help to post a picture of it.

based on the price i paid (SGD$10+ when it was only 3-4"), i believe it is a captive fish. during that time (~2 years back), there are more captive endies around too.

recently all these bichirs differences are making me feel like when i started out on bichirs 5-6 years ago.
Nice endy. Haha.. local exposure is still much limited to CB only. I had been in this for so many years, and I am still learning. Unless we get more WC polypterus, we dun get to see or more learn more.

By the lower jaw and shape of the head. PBB have a "flat" tip while lap have a "round" tip.

My favourite small lap, despite the lack of colour...

Epic shot, bro TGM

@bro Kohaku: Very nice bichirs, regardless of their identity Since most of us have limited exposure to PBBs, I suppose bro TGM's the only person who can give us an affirmative ID. BTW, I thought you've already posted these pics before for ID in the previous threads?

Now it starts to be more interesting. What about this polypterus? PBB or Lap?
