GATF upside down
Barely a week back, I managed to save enough to get a GATF i always wanted.
Kept it in a comm of an aro, pb, IT and a pair of rays. When i initially added it in, little aggression was shown.. occasional chasing but nothing serious. I had to go overseas for 2 days and to my horror, i found it badly scratched with bite marks and missing scales all over. but at this point, it was still active and swimming normally. Rushed down to my nearby LFS to purchase a hospital tank. Air pump full blast, used old tank water, added melafix. And here's the thing, after netting it out and putting it into the hospital tank.. IT FLIPPED UPSIDE DOWN. it's still breathing and occasionally trying to flip back up. Bros, why is this happening? The aro is the suspected culprit... Any other possibilities? Tank mates: -Aro: 9" -PB: 5" -IT: 4" -Rays: 6" -GATF: 5" Last edited by wei_yuan86; 05-05-2012 at 03:38 AM. |

Aro most likely
When you catch it out, GATF kena something like heart attack. Cannot anyhow catch out and put in different tank one. Sure flip 360 degrees. Sorry for your loss. |

Heart attack? Shock and stress i guess.
Then what should i have done instead of netting him out? I cant leave it inside as it would probably continue to be attacked. Sigh anyway, last night it was upside down but still breathing.. But it's dead now. Heart really aches. Thanks for your inputs bro tohet and julius. Last edited by wei_yuan86; 05-05-2012 at 11:55 AM. |

Should have left him there and hope for the best, should've catch him out, they are characins, theyre wounds heals up very very fast. My SB gator tried to kill my 2.5 inches GATF last month, lucky he got away but had a really nasty hole in its body, can see blood coming out, left him there and thank god it healed up nicely . Anyways, learning is more important, get a small one and start from scratch, |
