KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 13 — PAS will file a civil suit against*Sarawak Report*in an English court over the whistleblower’s report that allegedly accused the party of receiving RM90 million from Umno.

PAS secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan said the Islamist opposition party has already identified a senior lawyer in the UK who’s a Queen’s Counsel (QC) and would proceed to file the suit soon.

“We will sue*Sarawak Report*in England. We have identified a Queen’s Counsel,” Takiyuddin told a press conference here.

QCs are eminent lawyers in the UK recognised for their expertise.

“We have identified a QC who had a previous working relation with us,” Takiyuddin said.

He did not reveal more details.

Sarawak Report*had alleged in an article on August 6 that RM90 million was “reckoned” to have entered the accounts of top leaders of PAS.

The money transacted, it said, was one of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s attempts to “woo” the PAS leadership into supporting Barisan Nasional (BN) and Umno.
