Interesting, how about it's maintenance? If it's like what it says, recreating nature on the small scale, does it mean we shouldn't prune or trim anything at all? Let nature takes its course?

It really depends.
That's just like Aquascaping / Planted Tanks, nature vs art. To each his own really. For me i know i'd trim it a little just to keep it in shape. But it being semi-emersed, i think it's not so simple. My best answer to all your queries above is to read read and read the above links, do some searches on your own for more information.
No information is absorbed faster nor anything learnt easier than when you do it by yourself! i.e. (I'm not too sure myself..) |

These guys are usually filterless, but water is changed everyweek.
Fert is dosed as well. |

Whoa, this is interesting. A new way for Planted.
I was thinking if the water level is high enough, maybe we can add in an internal filter. And also we have the get the type of plant correct in the first time as it's a semi-emersed tank, so we have to know what type of plants suits this habitat. Am I not wrong to say this?? |
