inflation measures the increase in prices year on year. It measures how fast cost of living is increasing, but does not actually measure the cost of living in itself.
Singaporeans are feeling the high cost of living. Even if inflation for next month is zero, the baseline cost of living is still damn high and we are not ok. wake up and stop your double talk, mr minister!!! |

go Hong Lim park on this May Day, more meaningful lo. support the party that are the people's party lo ============quoted from SDP website============ Singapore Democrats When you come to the SDP May Day Rally on Tuesday, there's a lot more than meaningful speeches, free health screenings, and activities for the family - there'll also be some really cool SDP T-shirts on sale. One that's already on everyone's lips shows a set of headphones on the front with its wire winding to the back of the shirt and plugged into the SDP logo and the caption "Plugged into..." Of course, let's not forget Danny, the irresistible Democracy Bear. The cute plush toy of Danny's replica will also be on sale. So come and support the party that hasn't stopped working for Singapore and for you. These activities require funds and we hope that you will be part of the effort to help us bring democracy to Singapore. So bring your friends and family down to Hong Lim Park on 1 May and help us make this rally a truly memorable one to reduce income inequality in Singapore. |

The worst hit are the bottom 20%. They were struggling, before the high inflation and high influx of foreign workers. Now, they are suffocating or drowning. These people have no voice, they are the lot, if the gov has a choice, they would bundle them ino a barage and ship them out.
They increase the price of everything that they have their hands on, from transport and petrol, to utilities. These are painful to the everday people. When cost of fuel goes up, they increase. When cost of fuel came down, they refuse to reduce. Like the utilities threads, the utilities companies (who is behind them) stated higher cost of fuel. What is the burning fuel for our electricity generator? What is the fuel of cooking gas? Did the global price of gas increase in the last 1 year? The charts in the below link http://www.eia.gov/dnav/ng/hist/n9190us3m.htm What went up? Cost of fuel or tax or just profit centric? There are way too many other examples where inflation hitted majority of the population, the lot that gov don't see as HUMAN BEINGS! |

More likely these PAP ministers (some at least) know what is happening on the ground but they are lying in public so as to project the image they want to the world (and to ignorant Singaporeans).
