Default Grace Fu

Remember her Facebook comment that drew more than 1500 responses, many were negative. Now she has been promoted, will she be satisfied? Incidentally, what was her last drawn pay before she entered politics? Does she deserve more pay than Goh Keng Swee, who most likely received a pittance despite his enormous contribution to Singapore? What has Grace Fu contributed so far?

"When I made the decision to join politics in 2006, pay was not a key factor. Loss of privacy, public scrutiny on myself and my family and loss of personal time were. The disruption to my career was also an important consideration. I had some ground to believe that my family would not suffer a drastic change in the standard of living even though I experienced a drop in my income. So it is with this recent pay cut. If the balance is tilted further in the future, it will make it harder for any one considering political office."

I think pay is not the only motivation. Status n power can also contribute as motivation.

in Singapore, politics do not give you world stage, the ability to change a billion people's life, lasting legacy or place in history. Xi and Obama has that. If we are to assign a dollar value to that reward that comes with US presidency or China primier job, how much should it be?

US$10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000???

basically got money also cannot buy

and that begs the question of why the person enter politics ......

to gain fame ? power ? money ?

or to make life better for the common folks ?

I am just being naive and idealistic
