With a government that is ONLY measured, and hence paid handsome bonuses, base on GDP growth, the fastest way for them towards big bonuses is to cramp this little red dot with as many people as possible to churn out as high a GDP as possible in shortest timeframe.
Compassion, empathy and happiness for citizens can take a back seat. Last edited by Roadster; 11-01-2011 at 11:33 AM. |

To attract investors, to setup business here, these foreign businesses also looks at a country's resources (apart from the many other citeriors). Resources includes work force. If a country has a small quality work force, these businesses worries they are unable to hire staffs to work in their businesses (or plants).
So looking at that, it is necessary to import foreigners. |

My son classmates about 6 are China Scholars. They are older than him as they have already completed most of the Science and Maths syllabus in their country. So in S'pore, they juz improve on English and Combined Human. and can top the school already. The rest of the subjects they have already completed and juz need to browse thru.
Personally I feel it's unfair to put all these scholars together in the same class as S'porean students. Probably have a International school for them. |

I look at it very differently. Studies, results. These things the individual is really competing against himself. Not anyone else. Will ur son get 10 A1s if these scholars were not in the same class ?? I mean, if there's a quota for 10 A1s. And these people deprive ur son because of them being older, having completed syllabus watever, then ok, maybe unfair. But ur son shd take these people as a competitor and endeavour to do as well as, if not better than, them. No ?? |
