$77 million worth of service charge rebates for 800,000 HDB households
$77 million worth of service charge rebates for 800,000 HDB households
By Hoe Pei Shan Around 800,000 Singaporean HDB households can expect to receive $77 million worth of Service & Conservancy Charges rebates in 2013. These rebates were announced during Budget 2013 to help households cope with increases in the cost of living. Depending on HDB flat type, each eligible Singaporean household will receive one to three months of rebates, and will be notified through mail in April on the details of their rebates. The rebates, to be used to offset a household's conservancy charges directly, will be disbursed over the months of April, July and October. For households who pay their charges through GIRO or other electronic payment modes, their rebates will be accounted through their Town Councils, which will work with the banks directly. For enquiries, residents can contact their respective Town Councils or call 1800-866-3078 to check their household's eligibility. |

$77,000,000 divide by 800,000 = $96.25
Not even enough for casino entry levy. Period. |

I rather they reduce overall S&CC monthly, instead of whatever rebates. Afterall, every month's S&CC has excess, that they once gambled it in 'casino' (minibond) and lose it all. So instead of these residents excess they kept and squandered, why not just reduce S&CC? Fair?
