TITLE: MND to explore housing different groups of same religion together

Under the concept, smaller churches and Chinese temples can opt to lease or rent a multi-storey development and share common facilities like car parks and classrooms, National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan says.
SINGAPORE: Smaller places of worship may soon be housed in the same multi-storey development, under a new concept being explored by the Ministry of National Development (MND).

In a blogpost on Thursday (Dec 11), National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan said the ministry is currently exploring the concept of a Multi-User Place of Worship Facility, where smaller groups of the same religion can lease or rent a multi-storey development and share common facilities like car parks and classrooms.

"There are many small temples and churches which find the Government Land Sales sites too big for their needs, and hence unaffordable. Some of the church and temple leaders have asked us for alternative solutions. Helpfully, they indicated that they were prepared to co-share facilities and to go high-rise," he wrote.

Such a facility will likely be located away from residential housing and probably within or at the fringe of industrial areas, MND said. The development should also have a master lessee who will develop and rent or lease out the spaces and oversee the common property within the development.

MND has launched a Request For Information (RFI) to invite interested churches and Chinese temples to provide their views and suggestions on such a development and the management of such a facility.

The RFI will open from Thursday (Dec 11) to Feb 27, 2015. Interested groups are encouraged to register with the HDB by Dec 31 for a briefing on the RFI exercise.

I propose housing IMH and Istana, and all minister office together. Save land, better use of shared amenities and ministers can be closer to the ppl to know why they lost it.

There have tamil and mly.

Put it this way, some people of certain religions simply cannot put together one

http://eresources.nlb.gov.sg/infoped...004-12-27.html

In the 1980s a group of fishing buddies, including Paul Tan and Huang Zhong Ting, stumbled across Buddhist, Hindu and Taoist statues strewn across the beach at the end of the Loyang Industrial Area. They built a small hut made of bricks and zinc sheets to house the figurines. This humble construction served as a makeshift temple. It also included a Kramat to honour a holy Muslim man. It is believed that a sign was received by some people to build the holy kramat here.
