The Workers’ Party (WP) has filed a Parliamentary motion for Associate Professor Daniel Goh to take up the Non-Constituency Member of Parliament (NCMP) seat
vacated by Ms Lee Li Lian.The motion was filed last Friday (Jan 15) by Secretary-General Low Thia Khiang, who is also a Member of Parliament (MP) for Aljunied GRC,
and seconded by the other five elected MPs from the WP, party chairman Sylvia Lim said in a statement issued on Monday.
The motion is expected to come up for debate late next week when Parliament sits, she added.

Ms Lee lost her Punggol East seat at the 2015 General Election, but had the highest vote percentage among the losing opposition candidates with 48.23 per cent of votes,
making her eligible for an NCMP seat. However, she has said that she would not be taking up the position.

Nothing new. Playground kiddy politics instead of world class parliament.

They will devote tonnes of time to meaningless things just to discredit opposition while important things are like pasar malam. Well that's what they are endorsed and approved to do after all.

I am for ncmp seat to be non transferable.

If transferable or can go to next best candidate mean A can take monies and forgo for next highest loser to take up. Money politics.

Apparently PAP MPs all voted for NCMP seat to be transferable, thereby raising the suspicions from some people that Money Politics can now then occur.

Since PAP MPs have all voted this way, perhaps the said person will now change his rhetoric as whatever PAP fart all smells good to him
