Default What that kills a ray?

Hello Brothers/Sisters

I believe most ray hobbyists will have encountered ray casualty. What has actually caused the death of a ray ....and how can we prevent it . Any brother/sister would like to share your experience and knowledge. Let's us discuss........pls hor, may not necessary be a ONE right
answer/cause.

For me

1. Forcing ray to eat mp......die of hunger
We should let ray eat what they like till they are stable. Convert them
to mp with close attention [especially pups / newly arrived rays ]

2. Filter pump stop/choked......die of infection...notice black rays are more sensitive.
Check filter mediums more often.

3. Buying unstable ray direct from farm.....die of hunger/condition change
Make sure farm feed ray and ray eat infront of you...... then buy.
Climatise your ray into your tank slowly - make sure water is cycled.

4. Putting too many live prawns or torsas at one time....die of injuries from bites/infection - usually pups and young rays.
We should only throw in "feeders" what is enough for a day or two.
This will prevent feeders feeding on ray's skin. Pup/young rays..tubiflex.

You may agree or not agree. Let's here your views.

Regards

uncle, and usually if
1)not introduce new ray properly in new environment will cause the ray to get ph shock, or temp shock;
2)over-feeding also will cause ray to have problems

i dun think overfeeding will cause them prob, rather its more like putting too much food, like MP. that the rays where unable to finish and cause the water to go bad. rays, then they ate enuf, they stop.

hey uncle tom,

no.3 happened to me with 1 motoro.

also had 1 pdr died due to overdose meds. I was treating my xb of chipped scales by using methylene blue. 1st day dose 60%, 2nd day add another 20%, 3rd day saw pdr not moving anymore

another pdr died due to improper stabilization and moving it around to diff tanks due to incompatible tank mates. died 2 days after i brought it back.

well, ... lesson learned ....

Yes, me too. I don't think over feeding will kill the ray. My rays eat until big big hump front and back. Noticed overfed ray is healthy and active. Skinny ray tends to up lorry easier. Putting too much food is one of the cause.

for me i think all type of chemical product except vit is harmful to ray cause they are sensitve to slight of water that with chemical. For me if i need to add anti-chlorin,i will pour into the filter system and let them cycle b4 into the main tank
