Normal plecos will be the best choice. My opinions:
1. In case the aro is hostile, less heartpain if the pleco is killed. 2. Owners will tend to feed expensive plecos pellets instead of letting it scrape off the algae when hungry. |

Depends on your intention. If you just want something to clean the glass, you're best off going with a larger ancistrus species (L183, maybe).
If you want something nice, though, something to compliment your arowana, you may go a different route. I've kept albino adonis, L25, L91, L240, and even some of the baryancistrus species with aro's with no problems. Just make sure you provide some driftwood and supplement with a pellet or frozen food a couple times a week. My opinion, nothing looks cooler than a big AA or L25 with a SR aro. |

my aro ate L333 and bristlenose...
expensive feeders... Better to just add a common pleco. If you're thinking of FF, make sure you get a big one which is able to take the harassing (bites and chasing) from your arowana. I notice arowanas love to go after shiny, silvery fishes when they're bored. while tankmates of other colours are ignored. (eg, red, black, blue, green)

I have Albino Gibbiceps in 2 of my arowana tanks,
I also have L200s in my other arowana tank, just give a big piece of driftwood for your pleco to hide. |
