I think now HSBC got promo. 1.7% for 13 mths tenure.
Personally, I am waiting to hit 1.8% perhaps during CNY time. |

If I not wrong, SG garmen guarantees $50K max if put these $ in banks. I am conservative, will prefer to put in local banks even though rates may be slightly lower. UOB got promo till end sep, rate at 1.6%.
Foreign banks rates will always, I feel, be better than local banks though. |

https://www.sdic.org.sg/di_faq.php
deposit insurance act Are foreign banks included under the Deposit Insurance Scheme? A: All full banks and finance companies in Singapore are required to be members of the Deposit Insurance Scheme. However, wholesale and offshore banks are not required to be members. So a foreign bank which has full-banking license would be included under the Deposit Insurance Scheme. If you want to know if your financial institution is a DI Scheme member, please refer to the complete list of DI Scheme members. List of DI Scheme Members https://www.sdic.org.sg/di_scheme_members.php =============== As long as they are DI scheme member. Local or foreigner bank all cap at 50k 50k per name hor. eg. Ur name 20k Ur name + spouse name 20k = $10k each Ur name + kid name 10k = $5k each Even total is 50k, yours coverage is 20k +10k+5k = $35k IF Ur name 50k Ur name + spouse name 20k = $10k each Ur name + kid name 10k = $5k each Since your name is already 50k max. The combine name 10k+5k will not be protected. |
