cannot .. actually many of our test kits are not properly calibrated and tat's one reason why the measurements shows such ridiculous readings .. personally, u dun use them .. but wat u can do is feel the water with ur bare hands , when its alkaline, the water will be soapy and when its acidic, they'll sting .. and tat's on a human hand , imagine it on ur fish

this thread so serious u think i play play meh ? really lar , if too alkaline like 10 , sure damn soapy liao , or pH 2-3 sure sting ur hand .. no joke

i mean, think abt it .. pH3 - pH 9 in log terms , how much variance there is to water parameters, how can one species fish live under such extreme difference ? its thousands of times difference in water parameters ..

roger roger

FYI to everyone:

pH is the measurement of hydrogen ions in the liquid/medium. The range of pH varies from 0.0 to 14.0 with 7.0 being neutral. Anything lesser than 7.0 is considered acidic and anything more than 7.0 is alkaline. Arowanas prefer slightly acidic water (like most other tropical fishes) so it's preferable to keep the pH range of your water between 6.0 to 7.0.
Also note that each 1.0 point change in pH (e.g. from 7.0 to 6.0) is 10 times more acidic. A drop of pH from 7.0 to 5.0 means that it's 100 times more acidic than before!

It will have effect on red ornot i am not too sure but one thing i am sure is your aro wont die because of this. Yes, using your skin to test your tank water is another method u can use.

My out door ph is 10"-9" i can confirm that! After a prolong period it will drop to 2-4ph maybe in 6-10 months time?

Have u check those breeder pond? I strongly believe it is way below 5! So stinging when your hand or your foot contact the water esp. SxxF one! Like got ants clawing around! eee...
