I have yet to see my PNT fly yet because there's not much room for it to swim. He will be moving house next week already!

Anyway, I was thinking of washing the tank with the aquarium salt once, then wash the gravel. fill the tank with water and let the canister and heaters run about a day before I let my turtle in. other than anti-chlorine I don't usually put anything in the water but I was wondering if it is good enough?
I was also thinking of getting a test kit to check the water parameters before putting my turtle in, can advise me what I need to check? pH and temperature and anything else?
Actually i quite kiasu i dont add those normal anti-chlorine but those that can treat Chloromines, Chlorine, Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate and Heavy Metals.
Its like a all in 1 water conditioner.

Temp ard 28-30C will do.
pH according to the net their natural habitat is 7.9-8.4 for me i set it at 8.2
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate not a problem just do reguluar wc will do to keep it low.

I don't dare to put my hands inside my tank anymore with the 12" PNT inside...

on the first day, it nibbed off a good size of my red aro tail!

I doubt it will bite u. Once mine had a tiny pebble stuck in his nose n I rubbed it out for him using my finger. If they do bite it be out of curiosity more than anything else

Don't worry. It can't nip ur finger or arm. Normally they go for finger. Once it gets u it won't release. U need to pry open its mouth to release urself.

Thought it bites and doesn't release like a crab....

Do you carry your PNTs by its shell? or use a net to move it during shifting... ?

I always use my bare hands when handling them.

If I can reach my pnt I use my bare hands. If I can't reach him I will use a net to move him out of the way

I had a bad experience before, I was holding my PNT out of the water as I was doing a major water change and tank cleaning, the turtle bite me. and I jumped and dropped him
It wasn't the pain that I jump, I was just shocked that it bite me. Usually he just struggle when I take it out of the water but it will give up struggling after a while. One thing is their body is abit slippery so I must make sure I hold it firmly when I'm taking it out.

My turtle was sick awhile ago and he had mucus coming out of his nose. I had to clean the mucus for him using a cotton bud.
