Hi All,

Just to check with you guys.. does those Metal Halide Lamp Set installed at the factory are able to be use for Aquascaping tank?

Those 150W lamp set should be able to find it in electrical or hardware shop..

Interesting but how abt the heat? More heat production due to different usage?

Definitely can use, but the only problem is the fixture might not have enough protection against moisture, that's why aquarium lights are more expensive then it should be

I think the moisture is not the problem. because those lamp will mounted outdoor too. saw couple of them in those factory.

The heat will be the same like those aquascaping MH lightset , a 150W Factory Lamp Vs 150W Aquascaping MH Light set, i belive the heat will more or less the same.. or unless Aquascaping MH Light set contain a better heat dissipation control on their design? hmm..

post some pics bro.

a 150watt metal halide would be really nice in a tank. Just get the proper reflectors. the reflectors on the industrial ones aren't really that great when used for a tank. Light output is somewhat confined to a narrow beam.

I'm using MH for my planted tank, housed in a Lumenarc mini reflector. It can cover a 24"x18"x18" area pretty well.

Also check if what you're getting is really Metal Halide and not Halogen. Those halogen lamps really give off a lot of nasty heat.
