Im no expert but i hope my advise is worth trying .
1) It is worth using. For me i find the shape interesting and i would play around with it. I would either use moss or tie Nanas onto the branching parts. 2)I reckon moss would bring out the best of it. 3)I rate this bogwood 7/10. I like the shape. 4) For me i would pay less than 2 red notes. Just my 2 cents . But i think it is really up to you wat to do with it. People have their own preferences, therefore not everyone can match each other's ideas . Last edited by _kai_; 01-12-2010 at 10:24 PM. |

yes every wood also worth using, just depends on how you use it.
i thinking you can either cover it with moss OR tie nana on random brancches and fill the base with either nana or ferns (: either as centre piece or corner piece or you can overhang this piece from top down to give a tree root look about 7/10 hmm.. 10 odd i guess.. -the texture of the wood -the curves and overall direction 2. im thinking of US fissidens, anyone got a better type to suggest? 3. seems like i gotta go hunting for 8-8.5/10 bogwoods. that leads me to another question: what makes this bogwood only at 7/10? what is needed to make it better? (so i know what to look out for in future) 4. ok seems like what i paid was worth it |

thanks for comment. i shall go see what is "nana" now lol. the problem i face is that i dont have any LFS near me. and i cant possible drop by LFS to check daily. even if new stocks came, good ones may have been snapped up. but i am really gonna search for 8.5/10 ones. where am i likely to find those? |

for me, i prefer those with more branches that are longish and spread apart. so try imagining what kind of a final scape you want to acheive (: as for hunting for bogwood, you can try either 328 or seaview, both shld have quite a good quantity to choose from (: where you stay?maybe we can see if there are any nearby LFS |

Well, this is a decent piece of bogwood but as i said before, many people have different likings. For me, i like those root types as i always try to create an amazonian bio tope. It brings me joy to see my fishes swimming happily in and out of the root structures but I saw this bogwood as a tree and did not think of inverting it upside down to shape it like a root as bro young man suggested. And im just more into driftwood rather than bogwood. I prefer the rougher texture. This is why i rated it a 7/10. But then again, it all boils down to preferences . but im keeping shrimps. i realise theres the core of the wood, where its great for them to hide. and also lots of climbing space for the shrimps. it also adequately covers my tank, meaning the size is good. without too much empty area. im currently soaking it in water. any other treatments needed? |

Oh i see. If you are looking for smooth texture than bogwood definetly does it. But weathered i think driftwood is more suitable. Not really sure of wat weathered means but i think is battered and rough? Correct me if im wrong . For driftwood treatment. I heard of boiling it before to make it sink faster. But this im not too sure .
