Nice setup bro! Will look forward to the day when your CRS are in!
Used to have a CRS tank too; mine managed to live well without chiller though the baby shrimps couldn't survive when the weather got warmer (had fan blowing on the surface though). |

Did you happen to measure the parameters immediately after you finish setting up your tank? Very likely the readings are a bit skewed because of your old media from your aro tank. Now is a good time to put plants inside to let it mop up the nitrates. I would not recommend that you add in any shrimps yet though, they are much more sensitive that your aro. Let the tank mature a bit first.

How much is this over all set up? If your are using mature media yet you using is fresh, dechlorinated water. won't it kill the bb? |

So here's an update bros! Water parameters: pH: 5 NH4: 0 mg/L NO2: 0 mg/L NO3: 10 mg/L kH: 1 dKH gH: 5 dGH Temp: 23C pH still seems low though.. I have 3 commandos inside, 2 are CBS and 1 is a Crimson PRL from CRS Haven. Doing well and eating! I'll remove the CBS when I collect my PRL later today (Will update!). Here's the Crimson PRL |

Hi bro, the low pH might be due to the low KH in your tank.
U can try to add sodium bicarbonate to ur water, this will increase ur KH without increasing the GH of your tank, as such, u are essentially increasing the buffering capacity of ur tank. |

I dunno about you but I don't bother about the KH reading in my tank. It can be as low as 1 initially but the shrimps are still doing fine and breeding well.
