Lim Swee Say rebuts Low Thia Khiang
AsiaOne
Friday, Oct 21, 2011 Minister in the Prime Minister's Office Lim Swee Say said that Workers' Party chief Low Thia Khiang accused the Government of being self-interested people. Mr Lim said this in response to Mr Loh's speech in parliament earlier today. The Workers' Party leader had suggested that ministers had "entered politics to take care of themselves at the expense of Singaporeans". RELATED STORIES WP MPs will be voice of people: Low Thia Khiang He said: "However, Sir, the general feeling among Singaporeans during the General Elections and even now is that the Government is more concerned with paying its Ministers well than about the welfare of the people." Mr Lim said that he was at a loss of words to describe his feelings. Using himself as an example, he said he had entered politics fuelled by his vision and desire to serve Singaporeans and to build Singapore as a nation. Mr Low Thia Khiang pointed out that he was talking about the perception among Singaporeans, and said: "So please don't put words into my mouth. I said it was a perception." dassa@sph.com.sg Link: http://www.asiaone.com/News/AsiaOne%...21-306406.html Mr. Lim Swee Say is at a "loss of words." Knowing how badly he sucks in the English Language, we knlow he meant "loss for words." No words to describe our feelings too when you pay yourselves million dollar salary by voting your own pay raise in Parliament. The general population had no way to challenge the morality and ethics of upping your salaries to one of the highest in the world, despite the fact Singapore is one of the tiniest nation. Is this not done in your own self-interest at the expense of the people? |

Mr Low is a very wise politician, he got to weigh the repercussions before he speaks publicly esp in parliament. He is already considered the most outspoken one among all the rest.

It is very hard de.
Will be absolutely different when you are speaking in Parliament let alone he is only of the two Opps. before this year election. Furthermore, I think the WP would rather builds up their strength gradually instead of going all out in the first seating. |

Are you refering to WKS (MSK saga) when LTK kept quiet? So what do you think he shd have done and what would the man on the street react towards what he could have done? - Kept quiet - Say "YES" that WKS should quit/be sack - Say "NO" that WKS shouldn't quit/be sack - Or if you have a 4th suggestion. |

By saying it's the people's perception, he can say many things, such as that politicians enter the garment to earn eat. Who serve and who talk rubbish we all know, but many are also at a loss of words as to how thick skinned the greedy ones can be. Or hypocritical.
